Founded in 1906, CDS Group has been a respected supplier of goods and services to the wine industry for many years. In collaboration with its French supplier (SOFRALAB), CDS Group is seeking to appoint an experienced Technical Sales Manager to grow sales of MARTIN VIALATTE oenological adjuvants & additives used for still wine preparation.  These products are already sold in more than 45 countries all over the world and have been released locally in 2019.

Already a leading oenological products supplier to the MCC industry, CDS Group & SOFRALAB have realigned their collaboration (including creating this position) to achieve similar success in the still wine category. While the successful candidate will report within the CDS Group structure, technical & strategic interactions with SOFRALAB are implied. CDS Group is situated in Paarl, but the position offers the flexibility of working from a home office part of the time.     

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • A tertiary qualification in Oenology and a receptiveness for continued learning
  • At least 3 years sales experience in selling products used for still wine preparation, supported by prior wine making experience or alternatively at least 5 years wine making experience, complemented by commercial sales & marketing experience in a related industry
  • A valid driver’s license & own reliable transport (a company vehicle will be provided after an initial period)
  • Communication, rapport-building, organizational and social media skills

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Promoting sales & image of Martin Vialatte products
  • Managing key accounts and developing new business
  • Developing & implementing client specific value adding strategies for target accounts
  • Introducing new technology to assist with decision making (in consultation with SOFRALAB)
  • Providing technical assistance at customer site and for new product launches
  • Developing industry and market knowledge within the wine market
  • Growing customer base year on year in terms of volume, revenue and margins
  • Interfacing with the divisional manager of the CDS Oenological Division, supplier contacts and other relevant business areas
  • Assist with business plan development, sales budgets, forecasting & stock management.

Cost-to-company remuneration is highly negotiable. Starting date is soonest.
