Diemersdal Wine Estate currently has an exciting position available for an Assistant Winemaker situated Durbanville, Western Cape. The ideal candidate is a diligent, detail-oriented person with strong interpersonal skills (Afrikaans & English) and has the ability to perform well in both team context and independently.
The Assistant Winemaker will be responsible for (but not limited to):
• Winemaking process as part of the winemaking team
• Wine/cellar administration and record keeping
• Blending and stabilization of wine
• Bottling quality control
• Coordination of harvest activities
• Basic laboratory analysis
• Quality control
• Inventory management
• Cellar staff management
• Cellar hygiene
• Liaison on wine sales, wine tastings and promotions
• All other functions related to the position.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
Diploma/Degree in Viticulture and Oenology;
Approximately 3 years' relevant experience;
Knowledge of different quality control systems (IPW, BRCGS; WIETA)
Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office, WineMS);
Attention to detail and passion and energetic mindset
Valid driver’s license.
