An award winning Estate in the hospitality industry, Franschhoek, is seeking a Wine Tasting Room Manager who is outgoing, friendly and passionate to manage our tasting room facilities.

The ideal candidate needs to have strong leadership skills, be sales driven, well-presented, multi skilled, manage many varied daily tasks, be accurate, reliable and consistent in their work ethic.  The candidate needs to be able to work under pressure, be guest focused but also a team player. The candidate will be managing the wine tasting room staff, be responsible for their training and their service delivery.

Being the first person a guest meets when visiting our properties and acting as a host, guiding the guest and ensuring a positive experience at our property. The candidate will answer calls, take reservations for guests and welcome guests to our property, provide an exceptionally high level of customer service and educating guests about our wines. Actively recruit new wine club members and assist guests in the selection and purchase of wines for enjoyment at the winery or in their homes.

A good knowledge of wine and the South African wine industry is required. You will need to be able to be flexible with your working hours and be able to work on weekends and public holidays.

Most importantly the candidate needs to be a passionate professional with ambition to step up, achieve and deliver World Class Standards.

Responsibilities to be :

  • Manage the Wine tasting room, representing the Estate and brand
  • Comfortable with public speaking, ability to provide and welcoming and interactive experience for large groups and group tours
  • Wine knowledge, knowledge of the Estate, interest in wine, wine and food pairing and sales,
  • Motivating sales, drive initiatives and be service orientated
  • Manage the Wine tasting room staff, their training, rosters
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure, remain organized and maintain positive interactions with guests, even in busy or stressful situations
  • Manage and control the stock and cash ups
  • Manage Administration
  • Interact with the Restaurant and Kitchen, be able to execute wine pairings and tapas
  • Execute planning, organizing, problem identification and resolution
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Effective planning and communication with Events and Restaurant team
