Winelands Live out position

Own transport preferable with a valid SA Drivers Licence

Salary Market related (medical aid, pensions fund and a sales incentive bonus for target reached).

Required to work weekends and public holidays

Summer [Oct – Apr] – 6 days a week (open on Sundays – extra pay) 1 off day in the week

Winter [May – Sept] – 5 days a week (closed on Sundays) + 1 off day in the week

Core function of the Assistant Tasting Room Manager:


The successful candidate will report to the Hospitality Manager.  This person will have at least two years’ experience in the wine industry with a sound knowledge of wine. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting wines to the public and overseeing the tasting room experience to ensure guests experience a memorable visit and ultimately purchase the wines. The Tasting Room Assistant Manager will be responsible for the tasting rooms overall operational cleanliness and efficiency. The Tasting Room Assistant Manager will manage and guide the wine ambassadors and waiters and delegate tasks to the appropriate team members.

The  Tasting Room Assistant  Manager will be expected to accurately describe wines, wine making techniques and winery history and readily respond to guest questions with accuracy and confidence.  The successful candidate will also handle promptly and professionally guest queries and report them to the Hospitality Manager.

 The successful candidate will have the following attributes and experience:

  • Minimum of two years- experience of working in the wine industry with good wine experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Reliable own transport
  • Conducting wine tastings and cellar tours
  • Take responsibility for a consistent and pleasant guest experience
  • Assume responsibility for the overall cleanliness of the tasting room and the tasting room kitchen
  • Smooth over and correct general oversights and directions of team members
  • Ensure colleague wine ambassadors are well-groomed, punctual and friendly at all times
  • Assign and delegate tasks to team members and follow up that they have been carried out to required standard
  • Managing of inventory and carrying out regular stock takes as operationally required
  • Opening and closing procedures are completed correctly
  • Assist with special events held on the Estate
  • Answering of telephone, emails and working on POS system
  • Required to work on weekends and holidays
