Lanzerac Estate: Tasting Room / Deli Manager - 7600


Must have excellent communication skills, be well groomed, well spoken, strong managerial skills with hospitality background as well as wine knowledge. 


The Tasting Room/Deli Manager is responsible for leading the team on both daily operational functions while also focusing on the financial and promotional targets set for the Lanzerac Tasting Room/Deli. S/he will guide the team to uphold consistent excellence in guest service, while driving for results and achieving maximum performance across all areas of the Tasting Room. 


The Tasting Room/Deli Manager reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager with collaborative supervision from the General Wine Manager. 



  • Establishing close and effective working relations with guests including tour operators
  • Maintain and improve the high quality of service to ensure guests receive 5-star experiences
  • Assuming responsibility for the Tasting Room’s/Deli's overall operations and their efficiency
  • Responsible for meeting Tasting Room sales goals set by the Direct Wine Marketer & General Wine Manager
  • Develop innovative ideas to ensure continuation of Tasting Room/Deli's growth
  • Process all daily sales including daily commissions and shipping orders
  • Handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash registers and accounting for daily sales. Ensure that cash accounting is correct and complete at the end of the business day.
  • Responsible for scheduling (in the Tasting Room/Deli and on Dine-plan) and managing all wine tasting and private bookings for the Tasting Room
  • Responsible for staff schedule and training for wine events and functions
  • Responsible for the organisation and execution of wine events and special promotions as requested
  • Handle all guest experience issues in a courteous and respectful manner
  • To learn and uphold the principles and goals of Lanzerac Wine Estate
  • Maintain Lanzerac's image to reinforce the high standards of the brand
  • Ability to work most weekends and some holidays 

Tasting Room/Deli Appearance:

  • Responsible for aesthetics of the merchandise displays and pricing
  • Managing the overall appearance of the Tasting Room/Deli and reporting all structural, electrical, technological or similar problems immediately.

 Tasting Room/Deli Staff:

  • Recruit and train high quality Wine Advisors for the Tasting Room
  • Responsible for supervising, scheduling and evaluating staff 

Tasting Room/Deli Inventory & Stock:

  • Managing monthly inventory and control stock movement
  • Ensure that the stock levels of retail merchandise are always sufficient to provide for the demand
    • Ensure that the stock levels of all Tasting Room/Deli's consumable supplies are sufficient to guarantee high quality service (including price lists, glassware, wine carry bags, tasting stock, bathroom consumables, etc.)
