Human Resources Manager



Our client is a grower, packer and exporter of Pome Fruit in South Africa. They are looking for an experienced Human Resource Manager to join their organisation, based in Stellenbosch. The person would need to have broad generalist knowledge as well as a relevant qualification with excellent report writing skills.  This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

 The incumbent will assume full accountability for the Human Resource function with emphasis on:

  • Developing and implementing HR strategies that support the business and human resource needs, while giving strategic HR advice to the executive management team and the farming operations.
  • The efficient operation of all aspects of human resources in the business.


  • Provide strategic leadership and expertise in respect of the HR function generally, to align agreed and prioritised objectives with the company's strategic requirements specifically
  • Formulate and enforce employment policies and practices that attract suitable staff for specific jobs, thereby establishing the company as a preferred employer
  • Provide guidance and direction to ensure that training strategies address development needs that lead to real opportunities for implementing career pathing and succession planning
  • Provide direction on meeting EE Targets and BEE requirements by establishing and managing policies and practices and that achieve agreed goals within the realities of the business environment
  • Develop and implement a labour strategy designed to build and maintain a productive workforce and ensure that it is conducive to the successful achievement of the agreed business goals
  • Make strategic recommendations on benchmarked employee remuneration and benefits
  • Spearhead programmes that underpin business objectives through directly addressing organisational development, company climate, culture, performance management and corporate social responsibility.
  • Become the custodian of a healthy organisational culture by formulating and implementing agreed strategies specifically designed to inculcate such a culture


  • B. Comm Human Resources or B. Tech in Human Resource Management
  • 5 years’ management experience in Human Resources
  • Strategic management skill
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Innovative and independent
  • Action orientated
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Afrikaans
