Job Description
MANAGER, TASTING ROOM & GUEST EXPERIENCE
The winery is set in the tranquil and beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus. You will be responsible for handling the winery tasting room & tourism operations of the winery. You will also be key to engaging with visitors ensuring sales targets are met.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION.
• An absolute minimum of 2 years in wine, wine export, cellar door wine sales or hospitality F&B. Exclusively university educated with strong writing skills.

• Commitment to excellence and high standards
• Personal appearance a must: formal business attire
• Must be able to lift 2 cases of wine for clients.

SKILLS
• MUST: Have an understanding of wine, varietals, basic wine making process and a broad understanding of the wine industry.
• Established sales development and management expertise.
• Record of setting and achieving sales targets
• Ability to provide informative tasting sessions for tour groups
• A social nature with an ability to proactively engage with clients
• 110% Honest
• Languages: English & Afrikaans
• Excellent attention to detail, strong spelling, verbal & written skills
• Demonstrated proficiency with Computer Programs (Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

ROLE

1. WINERY SALES MANAGEMENT
a. Lead and Grow Tasting Room Sales performance to achieve weekly sales and budgeted goals and to build increased customer loyalty.
b. Monitor & consolidate stock usage at the winery.

2. MANAGE THE TASTING ROOM
a. Manage the inventory for tasting rooms and sales of wine and non-wine related products, restocking when necessary.
b. Minimize promotional stock usage & ensure absolute accountability
c. Oversee sales at the register.
d. Ensure Opening & Closing procedures are adhered to
e. Responsible for sales and shipping orders from the winery and liaising with our sales, logistics or distribution company for other trade or off-site sales.

3. PROMOTE & GENERATE TASTING ROOM SALES
a. Your compelling personality will ensure you leave guests with a lively, enjoyable and informative tasting experience that results in sales.
b. Be an ambassador for the winery & for the valley.
c. Co-ordinate and facilitate informative wine sessions for clients, VIP consumer, trade and tour groups.
d. Create and co-ordinate events at the winery. Manage budgets for those events and ensure there is a ROI.
e. Be a team-player & work with the team in logistics, sales & marketing. You will report directly into owners.

4. DESTINATION MARKETING
a. Grow and build up the winery as a destination with key tourism bodies. Update tourism information online & promote the winery through all channels of communication.
b. Promote and Manage calendar of external and winery tasting events.
c. Develop and facilitate tasting sessions & events.

WORK SCHEDULE
5 days a week, 08h00 – 17h15. Must be able to work some wine-shows, wine functions, some weekends and holidays (December – Easter). Standard days per year given as holidays.

Job Type: Contract

Salary: R9,000.00 to R15,000.00 /month
