SALES MANAGER

Benguela Cove Wine Estate is situated in the premium wine growing area of Walker Bay. Its unique location adjacent to the shoreline of the South Atlantic Ocean a few minutes from Hermanus produces ultra premium cool climate wines.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Recruit and manage a national team of sales reps; 
  • Liase with international clientel and sales reps
  • Defines expectations, monitors progress, and counsels if expectations are not met across all sales channels
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals and initiatives
  • Direct sales development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals
  • Conduct sales meetings, product presentations, train, develop, and motivate team to foster the success of overall sales team
  • Call on key accounts in designated territory/region 
  • Implement the strategic direction for the focus accounts and activate tactical plans to ensure yearly sales and profit objectives
  • Meet with key clients, assisting sale representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiate trading terms and closing deals and 
  • Analyze and control expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
  • Moniter and analyze sales and stock levels 
  • Manage sales forecasting, stock allocation and production planning 
  • Optimising logistics and root to market in most cost effective manner
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned
  • Liaise with operations, finance and marketing

 

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 plus 3 years’ relevant tertiary qualification (Sales/Marketing/Commercial)
  • 5 years relevant sales or key account management experience
  • Knowledge of entire value chain especially that of root to market 
  • Wine knowledge is a prerequisite (Olive oil will advantageous)
  • Comprehensive understanding of wine regions, varietals, basic production, and service
  • Knowledge of products and their key features and attributes; ability to execute product line strategies
  • Excellent client liaison and negotiation skills
  • Sound commercial competence
  • Strong understanding of brands and consumer marketing
  • Must be self-motivated and innovative
  • Strong communication, relationship and networking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities on tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality output
  • Ability to understand and manage budgets, costing, profitability, and expenses
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability/willingness to travel
