Food technologist / Microbiologist / Quality Control Intern



Our Client, A winery based in the Boland Area is looking for a vibrant, hard working and dedicated Quality Controller to join their team

The candidate will be responsible for numerous quality management and food safety systems and ensure quality standards are met throughout the winery


  • Development and maintenance of quality management and food safety systems, including: HACCP, BRC, PRP, GMP and supplier management
  • Assist with WIETA and Fairtrade standards (Health & Safety duties)
  • Manage and ensure quality by online control testing of production processes
  • Assist winemakers with investigation and solving client’s complaints
  • Organize management review meetings – (HACCP systems feedback from Management)
  • Quality assurance for winemaking and bottling according to BRC guidelines:
  • Fermentation till bottling
  • Test stabilities, micro analysis, chemical analysis
  • Pre-bottling analysis needs to be completed
  • Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of the bottling line
  • Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits (BRC, WIETA, Fairtrade and IPW)
  • Liaising with the entire winery regarding QC and production of wine
  • Training and evaluation of staff
  • Oversee cellar hygiene and housekeeping
  • Loading product specifications on Woolworth’s portal
  • Manage and oversee maintenance of the lab

  • Able to work under pressure
  • Able to perform high quality work under time constraints
  • Articulate, strong in administration and record keeping
  • Health and safety knowledge will be advantageous


  • Matric
  • BSc Food Science/ Food Technology /Microbiology /or an equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position
