Purpose:

To ensure all wine is prepared for packaging, on time and within specification. The incumbent will be responsible to facilitate the efficient and timely pre-bottling approval process of all wines in bulk. This will include incorporating inputs from the winemakers and liaise with Packaging and scheduling team.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant academic qualification (At least NQF 3 – winemaking)
  • A Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ relevant experience in a wine cellar environment, with supervisory experience
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, SAP and Excel)

 

Skills Required:

  • Excellent understanding of the wine industry
  • Sound communication abilities.
  • Sound leadership and interpersonal skills to work with suppliers and cellar assistants.
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Excellent management, planning and organising skills
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, i.e. GMP, ISO, HACCP, etc.

 

Job Summary:

  • Oversee the management in the Pre-Bottling Cellar, monthly stock take and ensure H&S principals are applied
  • Effective management of wine preparations and scheduling for bottling
  • Liaise with winemakers and scheduling department
  • Responsible for the wine quality of all final wines in Pre Bottling Cellar
  • Oversee interaction with contract packaging clients as required.
  • Manage the scheduling and deliveries of contract client products.
  • Interact with relevant parties to ensure mobile bottling is scheduled
  • Oversee the arrival of KWV bulk wines for bottling
  • Assist with off-site winemaking & blending as required.
  • Manage wine specifications and label alcohol (communicate information relating to

labelling to packaging materials store)
