Sous Chef required for Winelands Asian eatery

Soon to open Asian themed eatery situated in Franschhoek is looking for a young energetic sous chef to help develop and maintain an uncomplicated, high quality seasonal menu and manage a small kitchen team to deliver an excellent quality consistent product.  

This is an ideal position for a young recently qualified chef who is a self-starter and who excels when working with and developing a small team.

Minimum requirements:

  • Own Transport
  • Formal Chef/Hospitality qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Key Areas of Responsibility: 

Customer Satisfaction

  • Offer an exceptional food  experience
  • Ensure staff are knowledgeable about food offering and preparation
  • Solutions-orientated to ensure customer satisfaction 

Kitchen Management

  • Assisting stakeholders in menu development 
  • Execution and quality control of menu developed by stakeholders
  • Managing costs within budget
  • Develop innovative ways to support sales
  • Ensure and maintain a quality vs price ratio that guarantees a following
  • Reports effectively and timeously

Staff Management:

  • Develop and train staff
  • Ensure staffs’ appearance adheres to company standards
  • Ensure the look, feel and hygiene of the kitchen adheres to company standards
  • Ensure staff over deliver on their areas of responsibility
  • Lead by example and in doing so, adheres to the company rules and regulations
  • Communicates effectively
  • Values and respects staff’s input
  • Encourages and supports team work

Stock Control and Financial Management

  • Accurate food stock control
  • Maintain and develop a strategy for keeping a positive GP
