This position will be reporting to the Wine Tasting Centre Manager and will be responsible for the smooth running of the facility. The successful candidate will assume full responsibility for the facility and all activities and staff related to a specific shift, including ensuring a sound handover from one shift to another.

In addition to also conducting tastings, serving patrons and selling our wines the position will have the following specific responsibilities:

  • Floor management
  • Host / Hostess and related front of house duties
  • Staff deployment, direction, supervision and on-the-job training (immediately rectifying below par performance)
  • Management of reservations
  • Management of payments
  • Ensuring stock control policies, procedures and measures are implemented and accept full responsibility for stock
  • Ensuring cash handling (including other forms of payment) policies and procedures are implemented and accept full responsibility for cash and other payment transactions
  • Ensuring housekeeping and hygiene are always at acceptable levels
  • Participating, and from time to time taking leadership, with offsite tastings and events.

The successful candidate will

  • Have a proven track record demonstrating his / her ability to work independently and lead a team in a busy and stressful environment
  • Have above average administrative abilities
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Treat fellow employees and patrons with respect and have the ability to naturally demand respect from fellow employees and patrons
  • Be computer literate
  • Have reliable transport to and from the workplace and be in possession of a valid driver’s license.

Previous experience as floor or front of house manager / host / hostess in the hospitality industry will be advantages

Although not a specific requirement a certificate / diploma in Wine obtained at a recognised Wine Academy is preferable.
