Reports To: Tasting Room Manager
Overview:
As a Wine Tasting Room Hostess at our renowned wine farm in Durbanville, you will be the face of the tasting room and provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that visitors have a memorable experience while learning about our wines and the winemaking process. Your role will involve greeting and engaging with guests, and creating a welcoming and educational atmosphere that highlights our winery’s offerings.
Key Responsibilities:

Guest Reception & Service:
- Welcome guests as they arrive and provide a friendly, warm, and professional atmosphere.

Customer Engagement:

- Provide an excellent level of customer service at all times.
- Build rapport with guests, ensuring that their experience is personalized and memorable.
- Assist guests with wine purchases

Sales & Promotion:
- Promote the sale of wines and wine-related products available in the tasting room.
- Encourage repeat visits by informing guests about wine club memberships, events, and other offerings at the farm.

Tasting Room Operations:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tasting room, including ensuring that glasses, tables, and tasting stations are cleaned and replenished.
- Monitor wine inventory levels and inform the Tasting Room Manager when restocking is needed.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down tasting events and special promotions.

Events and Special Occasions:
- Assist in organizing and facilitating special events, private tastings, and group tours.
- Help with the coordination of tastings and events to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, including the responsible service of alcohol.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all guests.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, or wine tasting is preferred.
- Knowledge: A passion for wine and & guest service
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage with guests of all backgrounds.
- Personality: Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic about sharing wine knowledge with guests.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain a clean and organized tasting environment.
- Sales Ability: Comfortable with upselling and promoting wine sales.
- Multitasking: Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Player: Ability to work well with other team members and management.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is essential; additional languages are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
Working Hours:
- Day shifts (unless an event), including weekends and public holidays, as required by the seasonal demands of the wine farm and tasting room.
