La Motte Wine Farm in the Franschhoek Valley requires a passionate Commis Chef – Pastry to join the Bakery team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • assist Pastry Chefs to create innovative desserts, pastries, and confectionary items according to established recipes and standards
  • measure and prepare ingredients ensuring correct handling and storage of ingredients
  • assist with inventory and stock management
  • ensure cleanliness of pastry section by following strict hygiene regulations

Applications are awaited from persons who comply with the following:

  • degree or diploma in culinary arts / formal chefs training
  • previous experience in a similar position
  • knowledge of and a strong interest in a variety of pastry and confectionary techniques and trends
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to function as part of a team
  • ability to work independently and take initiative
  • ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • willingness to work on weekends and public holidays
  • own transport
  • sober habits
