Holden Manz, a family-owned boutique farm located in Franschhoek, has the above-mentioned position available. This is a business-critical position, requiring an experienced individual who is hard-working, thrives under pressure, needs little direct supervision, has high integrity, attention to detail and is a strong communicator.
The successful candidate will report to the Cellar Master and CEO, and will be responsible for: *Full winemaking process *Blending and stabilisation of wine *Management of cellar staff *Ensure cellar hygiene is compliant with food safety, quality control and Health and Safety systems *Managing stocks and ordering of dry goods *Liaison with suppliers and grape providers *Manage custom crush clients *Management of cellar inventory including maintenance of machinery and equipment *Prepare and update budgets and costings reporting to CFO *Manage all production activities including bottling and labelling *IPW audit *Submission of wines to competitions *Presenting wines at functions, events and dinners *All other duties related to the position.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Winemaking or similar;
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in a similar role;
• Experience with the export of wines and reporting to IPW is essential;
• Knowledge of requirements for export labels, Digi-labels or similar;
• Detailed knowledge of SARS, SAWIS and Wine on Line;
• Good computer literacy (MS Office, specifically Excel);
• WIETA experience and forklift license will be beneficial;
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
