We are looking for a chef de partie to work at Lynx Collection. The chef de partie will uphold the head chef’s culinary vision for the restaurant with an eye for quality, taste, and presentation.

JOB DESCRIPTION & DUTIES:

  • Performs all opening, closing, and other side duties under the head chef’s direction.
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment such as grills, ovens, and steamers
  • Maintain kitchen inventory to ensure sufficient quantity and quality of ingredients
  • Communicate relevant, up-to-date information to kitchen staff.
  • Ensure staff clean and sanitize their workstations and equipment
  • Adhere to all standards and procedures, and ensure staff do the same
  • Directs food preparation and collaborates with executive chef.
  • Prepares food properly.
  • Trains new employees.
  • Orders food supplies.
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
  • Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen
  • Put effort in optimizing the cooking process with attention to speed and quality

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Experience in kitchen breakfast service area
  • Experience with Spice Kitchen
  • Motivating presence to help staff overcome difficult situations
  • Knowledge of up-to-date health and safety standards
  • Formal culinary training can be helpful
  • Kitchen experience
  • Superior cooking skills for a variety of food groups
  • Effective time management techniques
  • Significant leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Must live in the Franschhoek valley
  • Team player
  • Attention to detail
  • Sense of urgency

It is important that the candidate can work as part of a team and is a good cultural fit for The Lynx Collection Team.

South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit, Visa and Passport is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document. Please note that we apply a 6-month probation period for all new applicants.
