Plant Inspector

Plant SA is a non-profit company with the main purpose of providing management and administrative services in support of plant improvement and plant certification in the interest of Horticulture in South Africa. Plant SA is based in Paarl, and is looking for Plant Inspector/s to join their team.

The successful candidate/s will report to the General Manager and be responsible for inspections and certification. Duties include: *inspection and control of plant material established in registered nurseries *certification of Vitis vines and deciduous fruit trees for the respective industries *monitoring of all plant material from establishment in units to collection and supply to growers *reporting of findings *all other tasks related to the position.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• Matric is a requirement, while a tertiary qualification in viticulture and/or horticulture will be advantageous;
• Minimum 3 years' practical experience as qualified Plant Inspector OR candidate must be willing and able to undergo 2 years of in-service training as well as theoretical training, and pass the inspectors examination;
• General viticultural and horticultural knowledge;
• Good computer skills (MS Office);
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans & English;
• Physical ability to walk far distances;
• Valid driver's license.
