Wine Bar/Shop Manager

Boekenhoutskloof Winery is seeking a dynamic individual with a business-orientated and analytical approach to manage our quaint wine shoppe & wine bar in the heart of Franschhoek. This position is based at inVINcible and will suit an articulate, observant individual with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and crucially, a passion for wine to confidently drive wine sales. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on building new relationships while maintaining those with our existing patrons.

The purpose of this role is to keep our wine shop and bar running smoothly by effectively handling the day-to-day operations, while creating a safe, fun environment, together with our kitchen joint-venture partners. Our new colleague in her/his role as wine shoppe & wine bar Manager, shall proactively promote and grow our brands and business, while ensuring that patrons are receiving excellent service in both off-consumption and on-consumption spheres. A strong sense of leadership and management skills are required. This high-level role requires the following:

  • strong understanding of modern sales tools and wine trends
  • experience in a similar role in the wine industry and/or proven wine knowledge
  • great interpersonal communication, presentation and impeccable customer-service skills
  • extensive knowledge of wine service, bartending and service protocols would be advantageous
  • excellent problem-solving skills
  • solid organizational skills
  • great sales skills and talent for developing promotions or new offerings
  • willingness to work hospitality hours (during peak hours, including nights, weekends and holidays)
  • own transport
  • decisiveness and ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
  • stock control and accountability for maintaining inventory and processing payments
  • computer literacy
