Strandveld Vineyards has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Team as Tasting Room and Operations Assistant.

The ideal candidate will have work experience in a similar position within the industry, be proficient in English, be presentable, target-driven, and computer literate, and reside near Elim/Bredasdorp with reliable transport.

Job Description:

  • Conduct Wine tastings
  • Wine sales
  • Ensure that the tasting room is neat and clean, with oversight of the general cleaner
  • Petty cash, daily point of sale cash up and biweekly recon
  • General office admin
  • Assist with hosting tasting clubs/groups, including all catering arrangements
  • Ensure the tasting room and fridge stock levels are checked and replenished daily
  • Stock control of tasting room stock and biweekly recon
  • Prepping platters for guests at the tasting room
  • Stock control of platter ingredients and purchases
  • Capture daily wine orders on pastel and liaise with the logistics department for delivery to different warehouses.
  • Perform all duties relating to accommodation at Strandveld Vineyard Cottages, including bookings, confirmations, cancellations, payments, cleaning, inspection before arrival, etc.

  • Problem-solving: Ability to address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly
  • Basic wine knowledge: Understanding of different wine varieties, tasting notes, and food pairings
  • Sales software proficiency: Familiarity with POS systems and Pastel software
  • Inventory management: Knowledge of inventory control processes
  • Event planning: Ability to assist with wine-tasting events and promotions
  • Language skills: Fluency in multiple languages can be advantageous in tourist-heavy areas
