Cellar Intern for 2025 Harvest

Lynx Wine Estate, a boutique wine farm situated on the banks of the Wemmershoek river in Franschhoek, has an opportunity available for an energetic and passionate individual to join our small team for the 2025 harvest season from the first week of January 2025 until the end of May 2025.

The successful candidate will work directly alongside the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker in crafting the wines for the 2025 vintage, all relevant cellar activities will be carried out by these 3 individuals. We produce wines across various styles, Red/Rose/White & Cap Classique from +/- 60 tons of estate grown grapes.

During this period the successful candidate will be exposed to various parts of wine business (+/- 90-95% of time will be spent in the cellar) including but not limited to:

  • Grape Sampling & Basic Sugar Analyses
  • Cleaning of Tank and Barrels
  • Rackings and Wine movements
  • Pressing (Pneumatic and Manual Basket Press – Labour intensive)
  • Fermentation additions and Inoculations
  • Punch Downs
  • General housekeeping and Hygiene are not negotiable
  • Monitoring Fermentations
  • We are a very small team and thus other relevant work not listed might be expected of the successful candidate

Previous harvest experience & a drivers license will be advantageous but is not required. We do however expect the following:

  • A passion for wine and the industry
  • Be in a physically healthy state and able to pick up 20kg repeatedly 
  • Eagerness and willingness 
  • A sense of responsibility & Integrity 
  • Be a strong individual & team player
  • Willing to work overtime and on weekends when needed

We offer accommodation on the farm & 1 meal per day as part of the remuneration package which will be discussed later in the screening process.
