Alvi's Drift Private Cellar Internship Opportunity for the 2025 Harvest Season

Alvi's Drift Private Cellar, nestled in the picturesque Breede River Valley near Worcester, Western Cape, invites you to join us for an exciting internship from the beginning of February until the end of April 2025. This is a unique opportunity to become an integral part of our winemaking process and contribute to crafting exceptional wines.

This diverse terroir offers a remarkable learning experience for aspiring winemakers. You'll have the chance to understand how the unique characteristics of our land influence wine styles and quality, giving you invaluable insights into the art and science of winemaking.

Key Responsibilities:

• Winemaking Support: Assist in all stages of the winemaking process, including grape reception, sorting, crushing, fermentation, and barrel management.
• Fermentation Monitoring: Keep a close eye on fermentation processes and maintain accurate records for analysis.
• Cellar Maintenance: Ensure equipment, tanks, and cellar areas are clean and sanitized to uphold our high standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with our winemaking team on daily operations and embrace learning opportunities.

Requirements:

• Hold a tertiary degree in Viticulture, Oenology, or a related field of study.
• Prior harvest experience is a must.
• Willingness to work long and flexible hours.
• Strong work ethic with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to perform cellar tasks independently.
• Previous international harvest experience is a plus and will be beneficial.
• Must possess a driver's license for your own comfort and ease of travel during your free time.
