Boekenhoutskloof Winery is seeking a collaborative team player with a proactive mindset and excellent planning and time management abilities to form the key link between our logistics and production departments at our dynamic winery in Stellenbosch/Somerset west. This position is based at our Helderberg Winery and will suit an efficient planner with great communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is focused, with strong administrative and problem-solving skills. The purpose of this role is ensuring the timely availability of packaging materials, setting up and scheduling bottling and labelling runs, and working closely with the production team to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. Managing challenges and adjusting schedules or priorities as needed will require a flexible, visionary individual to liaise across departments.

This coordinating role will enhance smooth teamwork and effective planning to meet production goals and entails the following:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Production Scheduling: Creating and updating bottling and labelling runs (and reworks) to ensure sufficient stock is available to meet customer orders, while optimizing production timelines.
  • Packaging Materials Coordination: Oversee the procurement and receival of packaging materials, ensuring materials are available in line with production schedules and minimizing downtime.
  • Supplier Communication: Manage communication with suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries of packaging materials and addressing supply chain issues as they arise.
  • Ezywine System Management: Creating purchase orders and setting up, updating, and tracking bottling and labelling runs on the Ezywine system, communicating with the production manager to ensure seamless execution and timely updates.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise the Dry Goods Controller and Label Controller, ensuring they follow the correct processes for labelling and packaging material management.
  • Label Approvals: Ensure the timely sign-off of labels and manage label approval with SAWIS to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Production Coordination: Collaborate with the production manager to ensure production schedules are met and bottling/labelling operations are aligned with inventory needs.
  • Inventory Management: Track packaging materials inventory levels and ensure stock is available as required for production schedules.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards in packaging and production processes, maintaining high-quality standards and meeting industry compliance requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives, seeking ways to optimize packaging material usage and production efficiency.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

  • Previous experience in wine production planning, packaging coordination, or a similar logistics role is required.
  • Experience or certification in production management, logistics, or supply chain management is highly beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage production schedules and supplier communications.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in using production management systems such as Ezywine.
  • Knowledge of the label approval process and SAWIS experience is a plus.
