Our client, a family-owned farm situated in the sought after Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley (Hermanus), has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant with excellent accounting and communication skills, paired with the ability to work accurately.
The successful candidate will report to the Owner/General Manager and be responsible for managing the accounting functions, office, and related administration tasks, including but not limited to: Financial: *maintaining accurate books of accounts *processing month-end closing procedures *reconciling bank statements *preparing financial statements (incl. balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports) *invoicing to customers *debtor/creditor management. Analysis & Reporting: *generating financial reports *preparing budget forecasts *analysing financial data to identify trends/opportunities and provide recommendations. Tax & Compliance: *handling tax returns *maintaining documentation for audits *ensuring compliance with regulations *remaining updated with tax laws and accounting standards. HR: *preparing payroll for permanent and temporary employees *recordkeeping of employee files (employment contracts, incident reports, etc.) *propose & support implementation of policies. Additional: *providing support with tasks related to costing, quotes, orders, export shipments, and customer support *all ad hoc duties related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting/Management Accounting;
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an Accounting role;
- Understanding of the wine industry essential;
- Strong computer skills (Accounting Software & MS Office, specifically Excel);
- Own reliable transport.
