Our client, a prestigious wine farm just outside Stellenbosch, seeks a skilled Accountant/Administrator to manage their financial operations and support their renowned winemaking legacy amidst rolling vineyards.

Purpose of the Role

As the Office Administrator for our client, you’ll oversee day-to-day financial tasks while ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations. From managing payroll to handling wine registration administration, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our client’s esteemed estate operating seamlessly. This is a unique opportunity to blend your accounting expertise with the elegance of the wine industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-Day Accounting: Manage bookkeeping, process invoices, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements for our client.
  • Wine Registration Admin: Handle administrative duties for wine registrations, including submissions to SAWIS (South African Wine Information Systems) and excise tax compliance.
  • Payroll & HR Admin: Process payroll for our client’s farm and winery staff, maintain employee records, and prepare Labour Department reports.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate excise tax filings and other statutory submissions for our client.
  • General Administration: Assist with ad-hoc tasks to support our client’s operational and compliance needs.

Key Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping (e.g., Diploma or Degree).
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a small-to-medium business setting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Xero, or QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and HR administration.
  • Understanding of excise tax, SAWIS, and Labour Department requirements (advantageous) will be beneficial.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a scenic, rural environment.
  • Fluent in Afrikaans.
