DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: VINEYARDS

  • Carry out daily checks on all tractors and spray equipment and report any faults
  • Carry out weekly cleaning and greasing of all tractors and spray equipment
  • To ensure the chemical room is cleaned and maintained
  • To ensure that all vineyard practices are carried out in accordance with the instructions issued by the winemaker and assistant winemaker
  • To assist with all harvest preparations and operations
  • To assist with the monitoring of pests and diseases in the vineyards and to report any issues
  • To assist with spraying of vineyards, sewing of cover crop and carrying out proper weed control
  • To ensure that the vineyards are kept neat and tidy at all times
  • To operate effectively and efficiently the trimmer, planter, all sprayers and tractors
  • Understand and ensure the implementation of the farm’s Health & Safety policy, and emergency Fire procedures.
  • To assist the irrigation manager with cleaning of lines and filters
  • Report any faulty or damaged equipment or any potential hazard.
  • Promote safe working practices.
  • Ensure a safe working environment.
  • Execute any other duties commensurate with the position and as instructed by the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: CELLAR

Vineyard and Cellar workers are required to undertake the following duties as directed by the manager, using the prescribed methods and frequencies as shown, explained or instructed.

  • Grape sampling during harvest time
  • Assisting with harvesting of grapes and monitoring for quality purposes
  • Following correct hygiene practices in the cellar with regards to cleaning of tanks, pipes, pumps etc.
  • Crushing of fruit
  • Racking and blending of wine
  • Monthly Sulphur additions and any other additions as requested by Winemaker
  • Monthly barrel hygiene practices
  • Bottling operations
  • Labelling operations and re-works
  • Topping of wine
  • Stock take
  • Tasting room and export deliveries
  • Pumpovers and pressing
  • Execute any other duties commensurate with the position and as instructed by the winemaker and assistant winemaker.
