A vacancy exists for a Buyer to join our team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Procurement Manager and will be based in Wellington.
Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
- Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
- Prepare reports and updates as and when required.
- Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
- Assist Procurement Manager with negotiations where applicable, communication and meetings with suppliers.
Skills & Qualifications required:
- Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts production, manufacture and customer order fulfilment.
- Minimum Grade 12
- A relevant Tertiary qualification will be an added advantage.
- At least 3 Years' experience as a buyer in a FMCG environment.
- A good understanding of demand forecast and the ability to plan and procure accordingly and independently.
- Working knowledge of SAP system will be advantageous.
- Proven ability/ performance at this level in a corporate FMCG manufacturing environment, a strong recommendation.
