We have a vacancy for a qualified Maintenance Technician at our Production Facility on a wine farm between Paarl and Stellenbosch.

The Maintenance Technician will support the secondary wine production facilities. They will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and technical support for bottling, packaging, and related equipment while ensuring operational reliability and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment
  • Execute repairs on bottling lines and components
  • Maintain labelling machines and application systems
  • Service conveyor systems and transport mechanisms
  • Maintain pneumatic systems and compressors
  • Service packaging equipment
  • Perform filter maintenance

 Breakdown Response

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
  • Perform emergency repairs
  • Minimise production downtime
  • Document breakdown incidents
  • Implement corrective actions
  • Provide technical solutions

 Preventive Maintenance

  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules
  • Perform equipment inspections
  • Complete maintenance checklists
  • Monitor equipment condition
  • Record maintenance activities
  • Identify potential issues
  • Recommend preventive actions

 Technical Support

  • Support production line operations
  • Assist with equipment setups
  • Perform equipment adjustments
  • Support line changeovers
  • Train operators on equipment operation
  • Provide technical guidance
  • Support production efficiency

 Documentation

  • Complete maintenance records
  • Update equipment logs
  • Record spare parts usage
  • Document repair procedures
  • Complete work orders in CMMS
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Report maintenance activities

 Safety and Quality

  • Follow safety procedures
  • Maintain clean work environment
  • Comply with GMP requirements
  • Support quality standards
  • Use appropriate PPE
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures
  • Maintain equipment hygiene
  • Maintain rigorous quality and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and continuously improve processes to consistently deliver safe, high-quality products

Required Qualification / Experience

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in production maintenance
  • Experience in food/beverage industry preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Forklift certification advantageous
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of automated equipment
  • Basic PLC understanding (Programmable Logic Controller)
  • Reading technical drawings
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
