Blaauwklippen Hospitality (Pty) Ltd requires an experienced and hardworking Guest Service Manager to join our Tasting House team.  The Guest Services Manager role involves overseeing all aspects of customer service and operations within the Tasting house. This includes managing staff, ensuring exceptional customer experience, driving sales, and maintaining the overall ambiance and cleanliness of the establishment.

The purpose of the role is to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for guests, promote the brand's wines, and contribute to the overall success and reputation of the estate. Additionally, the Guest Services Manager plays a key role in enhancing customer loyalty and satisfaction, ultimately driving revenue and profitability.

The ideal candidate must be willing to work weekends & Public Holidays, be presentable and must be well-spoken and fluent in English & Afrikaans

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Managing the floor of our Tasting House
  • Greeting & welcoming guests
  • Providing a warm & friendly welcome to all guests as they enter the estate
  • Managing reservations for the Tasting House, taking & confirming reservations, either in person, over the phone or online
  • Exceptional customer service skills to ensure guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience.
  • Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage and motivate staff, delegate tasks, provide training, and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Proficiency in sales techniques to promote wine sales, upsell products, and implement marketing initiatives to drive revenue and increase customer engagement.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address any challenges or issues that arise in the tasting room.
  • Conduct morning meetings with staff to inform what is planned for the business and give feedback from previous day.
  • Ensure daily duties are performed by all staff before service and closure procedures is followed, sheet implemented and signed off.
  • Ensure that the team has ultimate knowledge on all food, wine and beverages presented by the Tasting House and are trained to perform duties.
  • Set daily targets for upselling by waiters and wine advisors.
  • Submit all wage hours, approved by the Manager (via email or signature) with attendance sheets to the Finance department monthly.
  • Ensure that all cash transactions, including sales, refunds, and deposits, are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Managing stock
  • Monitor all staff tools and report to the Destination Manager if in need of anything (cutlery, plates, glasses, picnic blankets, umbrellas) 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Hospitality experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of different types of wines, wine regions, grape varietals, production techniques, and wine tasting principles.
  • Fluent in Afrikaans & English
  • Strong people skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the Tasting House team
