The National Sales representative, reporting to the CEO, is a senior executive role responsible for managing the South African business division. The role aims to enhance the sales effectiveness and execution quality of Cape Point Wines in the marketplace. Responsibilities include overseeing the broader sales organization, directly managing the Sales Management and outsourced merchandising structures, and ensuring optimal performance in a competitive environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:

  • Develop, plan, and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to maximize effectiveness. Optimize the sales organization and measure performance against key indicators such as operating standards, volume, value, and market share.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics, making necessary adjustments and implementing improvements to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Identify and leverage market potential by utilizing sales and distribution penetration opportunities derived from market potential studies.
  • Build and maintain a diverse sales team capable of succeeding in key markets, segments, and categories.
  • Lead and mentor a successful sales team through effective coaching and guidance.
  • Foster relationships with key customers by adhering to administrative expectations including regular meetings, negotiations, annual trading agreements, promotional plans, new product listings, and establishing a customer service ethos through meticulous planning, service, and communication platforms.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects related to the third-party merchandising solution to ensure optimal brand performance.
  • Maintain continuous and comprehensive awareness of competitor activity, predicting future developments to formulate an effective response within the legal framework.
  • Collaborate effectively with other internal departments, including Marketing, Operations, Production, and Finance.
  • Take responsibility for meeting sales and volume targets within the territory and implement corrective actions if goals are not met.
  • Report to executives on activities and performance related to business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualification diploma or degree

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years sales
  • Proven track record in sales performance and leadership
