Our client, a dynamic and fast-growing company in the fruit/packing industry, requires an individual, with a hands-on, feet on the floor approach, to join their team on site in the Overberg region.
Education & Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing or similar
- Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
- Minimum 2 year proven cold storage management experience, preferably with fruit/ vegetable and perishable products. Controlled Atmosphere essential
- Computer literate with sound knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Excel
- ViTracs and Power BI would be an added advantage
- Must be willing to relocate and or travel as this is an onsite role.
- Driver’s license and own transport.

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s):
KPA’s will include (but are not limited to) the following essential responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations related to the intake of fruit (including re-binned fruit) from the farms and external growers into Cold storage facilities are adhered to whilst adhering to quality, administrative and safety protocols.
- Monitor and oversee the efficient movement of bulk produce into and out of cold storage, including floorspace planning, sequencing, CA loading and pack plan development.
- Manage and organise stock efficiently to ensure the optimal usage of space in cold rooms.
- Monitor and oversee that the general maintenance of the cold store equipment is conducted as per the maintenance schedules.
- Ensure that the Controlled Atmosphere (CA) and Regular Atmosphere (RA) Cold Room Operations are regulated according to the required temperatures and that gasses are regulated for various fruit cultivars.
- Lead, train, and develop a team of logistics personnel to foster continuous improvement and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including health, safety, quality and environmental guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain the quality and integrity of stored products, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers pertaining to re-bins, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
