The Maintenance Assistant will provide hands-on support in maintaining and repairing estate infrastructure, equipment, and facilities, with a strong focus on refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate must be technically skilled, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. This role includes general maintenance tasks and specialized refrigeration troubleshooting and repair.

Key Responsibilities:
General Maintenance:
- Conduct accurate technical checks and complete maintenance checklists.
- Perform safety and functionality inspections on all farm equipment, tools, buildings, infrastructure, and vehicles.
- Execute repairs and adjustments to ensure all systems remain in proper working order.
- Carry out tasks involving plumbing, painting, electrical (under instruction), mechanical work, carpentry, paving, cement work, tiling, landscaping, welding, and other general maintenance duties as assigned.
- Support workshop administration by logging tool/equipment usage, consumables, and spares.
- Conduct inventory checks for tools, consumables, and spare parts; report shortages promptly.
- Ensure proper care and safe use of all equipment and tools.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the workshop environment.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and ensure the correct use of PPE and tools.
- Act as a safety representative and guide others in proper operational procedures.
Refrigeration-Specific Responsibilities:
- Inspect, service, and maintain refrigeration units across the estate.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in refrigeration and cooling systems.
- Conduct regular performance tests and ensure compliance with temperature and energy standards.
- Monitor refrigerant levels and carry out safe refilling/replacement when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of refrigeration system inspections, servicing, and repairs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience or qualification as a Refrigeration Technician.
- Technical background with practical knowledge in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, and mechanical repairs.
- Familiarity with workshop processes and inventory control.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and be available for after-hours callouts if required.

Work Conditions:
