Our client, a dynamic and fast-growing company in the fruit/packing industry, requires an individual, with a hands-on, feet on the ground approach, to join their team on site in the Overberg region. The company focuses on modern agricultural practices and integrating technology to enhance operations. The successful candidate will form part of a team, working closely with the Engineering Maintenance Manager, focusing on planning and coordinating and executing maintenance activities. 

Education & Experience:  

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (NQF 6) or a mechanical or electrical trade may be considered with substantial relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in a similar role within a production/ manufacturing & maintenance department (highly advantageous).
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance principles.
  • Computer literate, intermediate MS Excel skills. Experience in CMMS software (advantageous)

Valid SA Driver's license and own transport.

Key Performance Area:

KPA’s will include (but are not limited to) the following essential responsibilities:

Maintenance Planning:

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to plan weekly and monthly maintenance activities based on operational needs.

Work Order Management/Reporting:

  • Create, track and manage work orders in the Acc Pac system, ensuring documentation, scope, tools, materials and personnel for maintenance tasks are available.
  • Liaise with external service providers regarding maintenance and coordinate vendors as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and conduct quality checks on completed work.
  • Report daily activities and generate monthly reports for stakeholders.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Analyse maintenance data for trends and improvement areas, perform root cause analysis and track maintenance KPIs.
  • Plan preventative and predictive maintenance schedules, assess activities for continuous improvement, and assist in annual reviews.

Stock Control:

  • Conduct regular stock takes of spares, monitor critical part levels, and procure necessary items in collaboration with the team.

Purchasing/ Invoicing and general Administration:

  • Collaborate with procurement to expedite orders, track deliveries, manage quotations, and ensure timely invoice processing.
  • Maintain filing systems and assist with staff time and attendance management on an ad-hoc basis.

Knowledge of Regulations:

  • Understanding of Safety regulations and Preventative Maintenance engineering principles.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with various departments.

Customer service skills:

  • Able to prioritise key activities and deliver on promises on time in full.
  • Able to handle high levels of stress in a demanding environment.
