De Morgenzon, a well-established and premium wine estate based in Stellenbosch, is looking for an experienced Financial Manager to join their dynamic team.
This role is ideal for a finance professional who understands the complexity of wine production and will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial systems and reporting while providing insights to support decision-making across wine production and wine sales.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Managing and overseeing daily operations of the finance function (including general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, revenue management, debtors & creditors * set up and maintain financial accounting system *Preparing financial statements, management accounts and cash flow forecasts * Maintaining cost tracking for wine production and bottling, cellar costs and valuation of WIP and finished goods *Monitor and reconcile stock levels for wine, bulk, dry goods and consumables *Preparing and submitting tax returns (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax) *Supporting the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and variance analysis across different functions *Assisting with audit preparation and liaising with external auditors *Payroll processing and reconciliation *Assist General Manager with Insurance, Legal issues, Exports, Imports, Recruitment and any ad hoc functions *Providing financial insights to management to support operational efficiency *Driving improvements in Internal Controls, reporting systems and financial processes * Ensure company is compliant and up to date with legal requirements and statutory bodies * BBBEE application and audit *All other duties relating to the role.
Essential Qualifications, skills and experience:
- Formal qualification/degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 5 years relevant accounting experience, preferably in the wine industry
- Knowledge of SA tax and financial reporting standards (IFRS for SME’s/SARS compliance)
- Advanced MS Excel skills and working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g. PASTEL, SAGE, XERO etc)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
