Job Description:

In this role, you will assist the Food & Beverage Manager to supervise restaurant operations and administration of the outlet to sustain a high standard of food and beverage quality, service and to maximize profits through excellent customer service

  • Represent the restaurant and hotel in community relations activities.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff.
  • Prepare and manage staff rotas, ensuring sufficient cover during busy periods.
  • Confident in using software such as Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Uphold and exceed service standards.
  • Accurately complete end-of-day revenue reports and closeouts.
  • Requisition supplies to ensure stock readiness for upcoming shifts.
  • Open and close shifts in line with procedures.
  • Manage staff issues during shifts, including absences and lateness, and find prompt solutions.
  • Ensure correct staff break procedures are followed.
  • Occasionally assist with inventory checks, monitor inventory, place orders, and oversee stock rotation.
  • Work closely with the kitchen to uphold food quality and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Conduct regular cleanliness and safety inspections.
  • Step into any supervised role during emergencies if needed.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

  
Experience Required:  

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent school-leaving qualification
  • Certificate or diploma in Hospitality Management would be advantageous
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a five-star hotel or luxury hospitality environment with demonstrated experience in a supervisory role within the restaurant industry (good understanding of beverage service and wines)
  • Outstanding leadership and interpersonal abilities and attention to detail
  • Exceptional customer service skills as well as excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, for interactions with guests and colleagues.
  • Experience in restaurant operation systems
