We’re looking for a motivated, curious, and hands-on intern to support our viticulture team in the field. As part of our dynamic, future-focused team, you’ll contribute to meaningful work, learn from the best, and help shape the next chapter of South African viticulture.  Key responsibilities

• Monitor vine development throughout the season, from budbreak to harvest, across various cultivars and regions.
• Assist with data collection for research projects and demonstration blocks, including phenology, yield estimation, and climate data.
• Take part in hands-on vineyard tasks such as pruning, suckering, shoot thinning, bunch counts, canopy management, and harvesting.
• Work alongside experienced viticulturists to gain insight into vineyard planning, block evaluations, and client consultations.
• Contribute to industry research and innovation, helping to test and implement new viticultural practices that support future-ready wine farms.
• Assist in collecting and preparing soil samples from various vineyard sites
• The opportunity to observe and learn about the propagation and production of high-quality vine clones at Vititec, gaining insight into how clone selection contributes to vineyard performance and wine quality

Requirements:

• A recently completed degree or diploma in Viticulture, Agriculture, or a related field is required e. candidate should have graduated in 2023, 2024 or expects to graduate in 2025.
• Passion for the wine industry and willingness to work outdoors.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills. Driver’s license and own transport.
• A flexible attitude towards seasonal demands is essential, as work intensity and schedules may vary throughout the year.

 Please note: The internship is an 18 month fixed-term contract with a negotiable start date.
