Iwayini Company has a vacancy for a Warehouse Controller to be based at Neethlingshof Estate in Stellenbosch.
The Warehouse Controller is responsible for managing our bottled wine inventory and warehouse operations in compliance with South African wine regulations and industry standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Stock Management & Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records of all bottled wine stock using warehouse management systems
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with production and sales teams for optimal inventory planning
- Implement and maintain proper stock rotation procedures (FIFO/LIFO) to preserve wine quality
- Oversee receiving, storage, and dispatch of finished wine products
- Ensure proper storage conditions including temperature, humidity, and light control
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all warehouse operations comply with South African wine industry regulations and SAWIS requirements
- Maintain accurate records for wine movement documentation and traceability
- Coordinate with regulatory inspections and audits
- Ensure proper labelling and documentation of all wine products according to legal requirements
- Maintain compliance with liquor licensing regulations and excise requirements
- Maintain rigorous quality and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and continuously improve processes to consistently deliver safe, high-quality products
Warehouse Operations
- Supervise warehouse staff and coordinate daily operations
- Implement and maintain health and safety protocols in the warehouse environment
- Optimize warehouse layout and storage systems for maximum efficiency
- Coordinate with logistics partners for timely dispatch and delivery
- Manage packaging materials inventory and coordinate with suppliers
- Oversee loading and unloading of wine shipments
Quality Control
- Monitor wine storage conditions and report any quality concerns
- Ensure proper handling procedures to prevent damage to wine products
- Coordinate with quality assurance team for product sampling and testing
- Implement damage control procedures and maintain breakage records
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare regular inventory reports and stock movement analysis
- Maintain accurate documentation for all warehouse transactions
- Generate reports for management on stock levels, movements, and compliance status
- Coordinate with finance team for inventory valuation and stock provisioning
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
- Matric certificate (Grade 12) minimum
- Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse management, preferably in wine or beverage industry
- Experience with MCC will be an added advantage
- Experience with wine industry regulations and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in warehouse and inventory control software
- Strong knowledge of South African wine regulations and SAWIS requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Understanding of wine storage requirements and quality preservation

- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Good communication skills in English and Afrikaans
- Physical ability to work in warehouse environment
