Louwshoek, a well-established wine farm situated just outside Rawsonville, is looking for a practical, hands-on individual who demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills to join their team as Farm Manager.

Together with the owner and viticultural team, the incumbent will ensure that the vineyards are managed to the highest standards. The ideal candidate is meticulous in their approach to producing grapes of outstanding quality.

The successful candidate will report to the Owner and be responsible for all tasks relating to the farm and vineyard (including but not limited to): *managing the farm during the full year cycle (including developing and implementing vineyard management practices such as pruning, canopy management, crop control, vine establishment, post-harvest activities, block maintenance and a soil management programme) *managing the irrigation schedule, weed and pest control to ensure optimal crop production *vineyard team management and development *drafting and executing maintenance plans for equipment and infrastructure *working within a production and farming budget in collaboration with top management and keeping track of operating costs *managing farm operating procedures, including best practice and health and safety matters *all other tasks related to the position.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Viticulture/Farming Management;
  • If no tertiary qualification, at least 5-10 years' experience in a similar role;
  • Mechanical understanding and skills for the basic service and maintenance of machinery, equipment and infrastructure;
  • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English);
  • Excellent computer literacy (MS Office).
