Saronsberg Cellar, a leading winery in the picturesque Tulbagh Valley, has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic Assistant Winemaker.
We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills (Afrikaans & English) who thrives in a hands-on, team-oriented environment and isn’t afraid to go the extra mile. Clock-watchers need not apply.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Winemaker will report to the Winemaker and be actively involved in:

All aspects of the winemaking process as part of the winemaking team

Coordination of harvest activities

Cellar hygiene, quality control, and health & safety compliance

Ensuring adherence to IPW / SAWIS and other regulatory standards

Inventory management and record-keeping

Cellar staff management & general cellar administration

Conducting wine tastings, supporting tasting room activities, and attending events/functions (including weekends when required)

Assisting with marketing activities and representing Saronsberg at tastings and promotional events, including local travel when needed
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience

BSc Agric Viticulture & Oenology, Elsenburg qualification, or similar (Oenology focus preferred)

Minimum of two completed harvests

Excellent computer literacy (MS Office, Wine MS)

Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license

Willingness to work overtime, especially during harvest season

Flexibility to assist in tasting room, weekend activities, and marketing/tasting functions
