Van Loveren Vineyards is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of International Sales to lead its global sales function and drive growth across international markets.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee a team of Export Managers, spearhead the expansion of our global footprint, and cultivate strong, lasting relationships with key distributors, retailers, and clients around the world.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of international markets, a proven track record of driving sales performance and strong leadership and negotiation skills. With growth as the primary KPI, you will be responsible for developing and executing data driven sales strategies that deliver measurable impact in both established and emerging markets.
This position is preferably based at our Head Offices in Robertson and will report to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive international sales strategies aligned with global growth objectives;
- Monitor and respond to global market trends and competitor activity to keep the company’s brands competitive across all tiers;
- Deliver, manage and monitor accurate budgets, sales forecasts and define realistic, ambitious revenue targets for each international territory;
- Identify new business opportunities and tailor solutions that address client needs across diverse international markets;
- Lead, oversee and assist with negotiations, ensuring favourable outcomes and long term value creation for the company;
- Cultivate, explore new markets and maintain strong relationships with key international clients, distributors, and retailers to drive loyalty and repeat business;
- Regularly reports on sales metrics, providing actionable insights, develop, lead, goal-setting and coaching to Export Managers;
- Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture that drives continuous improvement in sales performance across the exports sales team;
- Ensure full compliance with international trade regulations, contracts, and financial agreements;
- Align international sales efforts with marketing, logistics, finance, and production teams to ensure end-to-end excellence;
Minimum Qualifications and Skills requirements:
- A Degree in Sales / business / international relations / finance or trade or a related field is required;
- Proven experience in sales management in international markets or the wine/beverage industry;
- Experience developing and executing international sales strategies with a track record of success;
- Relationship with mayor international wine and retail groups (buyers);
- Strong leadership and team management;
- Results-driven with a focus on exceeding sales targets and data analysis;
- Strategic thinking and decision-making;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proven relationship-building, networking and negotiation ability;
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
