Van Loveren Vineyards is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Head of National Sales to lead our South African market sales strategy and execution.
This pivotal role is responsible for driving sales growth across South Africa, optimizing sales processes and managing a team of Sales Managers, Brand Managers and Marketing Managers overseeing off-consumption and on-consumption markets.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of national market dynamics, exceptional negotiation skills and strong analytical capabilities to develop and implement effective, data-driven sales strategies. The primary measure of success in this role will be the consistent and sustainable growth of national sales.
The position is preferably based at our Head Office in Robertson and will report to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective national sales strategies to maximize revenue and market share;
- Lead a team of Sales and Brand Managers, ensuring alignment with company objectives and identify high-potential markets for expansion;
- Stay informed on national trends, competitor activity and brand positioning across all market tiers;
- Create accurate sales forecasts and revenue targets, manage national sales budgets, and monitor key performance metrics;
- Analyse sales data and market trends to refine strategies and ensure profitable, data-driven decision-making;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, distributors, buyers, restaurants and strategic partners;
- Identify new business opportunities, negotiate favourable deals, and represent the company at industry events;
- Oversee the full sales cycle, from proposal to contract, ensuring client satisfaction and long term partnerships;
- Provide strategic leadership to Sales Managers, and marketing Managers, supporting team development through coaching, performance reviews and goal alignment;
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance sales culture while ensuring effective coordination with marketing, production, logistics and finance departments;
Minimum Qualifications and Skills requirements:
- Degree in Sales / Trade / Finance or related field is required;
- Experience in sales management, preferably within the wine, beverage, or FMCG industry;
- Experience developing and executing national sales strategies with a track record of success;
- Relationship with mayor national wine, restaurants and retail groups (buyers);
- Strong leadership and team management;
- Results-driven with a focus on exceeding sales targets and data analysis;
- Strategic thinking and decision-making;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proven relationship-building, networking and negotiation ability;
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
