The Constantia Wine Route Manager oversees the co-ordination and success of the wine route, ensuring it operates as a united collective of wineries. This part-time role focuses on member coordination, destination positioning, event management, partnerships, and upholding the route’s values.
The role acts as the main communication link between member wineries, tourism bodies, and stakeholders, while facilitating collaboration and representing the route at relevant forums.
It involves coordinating wine route events and tastings, managing budgets and meeting schedules, tracking performance, and championing the region. The manager will also explore additional revenue streams such as partnerships, merchandise, and sponsorships opportunities.
Key Skills and Attributes
· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to connect with member wineries and stakeholders.
· Proven ability to manage projects and events with varying workloads — some weeks will be busier than others.
· Excellent time management skills: ability to prioritise effectively, to work independently and take initiative without daily supervision.
· Knowledge of the local wine and tourism landscape
· Negotiation and partnership skills
· Competence in basic budgeting and reporting, including tracking agreed KPIs.
· Self-driven and resourceful
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
· Willingness to travel to member wineries and attend occasional events (including some evenings or weekends).
