Warwick Wine Estate is seeking a Seasonal Wine Host/Waiter to become part of our dynamic Hospitality team for a fixed-term period.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, upholding our service excellence standards, and driving sales within the Hospitality department.
Position Purpose:
The Seasonal Wine Host/Waiter is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service in the Tasting Room and Restaurant, ensuring a superior guest experience that reflects the company’s commitment to excellence. The role involves driving sales through product knowledge and guest engagement while supporting daily operations within the Hospitality department. The successful candidate will uphold the highest standards of service, contribute to a positive team environment, and help promote the company’s wine offerings and related services.
Requirements:
- Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Formal wine education (WSET or Cape Wine Academy) will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in the wine and restaurant industry.
- Flexibility to work various hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Passion for wine and the hospitality industry.
- Consistently maintain sober habits.

Responsibilities:
- Serving customers in the Tasting Room and Restaurant:
- Provide a welcoming and knowledgeable service experience, guiding guests through wine tastings, menu options, and answering questions they may have.
- Ensure that all service standards are upheld, from greeting guests to bidding them farewell.
- Provide efficient and superb customer service to guests:
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests or concerns, ensuring an exceptional and memorable experience for every guest.
- Handle guest feedback professionally, addressing any issue with a solution-oriented approach.
- Execution of daily duties (incl. set-up, service, end-of-duties etc.):
- Prepare the Tasting Room, Restaurant and Picnic areas for daily operations, including setting up tables and picnic areas, arranging wine displays, and ensuring all areas are clean and presentable.
- Perform general end-of-day tasks, such as clearing and wiping tables, ensuring all areas for operation are neat and clean for the following day’s operations.
- Drive sales (incl. wine sales, food, wine club sign-ups, etc.):
- Actively promote and sell wines, food items, and wine club memberships to guests, utilizing knowledge of the products and an understanding of guest preferences.
- Meet or exceed sales targets by providing tailored recommendations and upselling products where appropriate.
- Participate in sales initiatives, such as promotional campaigns or special offers, to maximize revenue for the Hospitality department.
- General duties within the Hospitality Department:
- Assist with various tasks as needed, including stock management, inventory checks, and coordinating with the kitchen or bartending employees.
- Support the Hospitality team with special events, private tasting, or group bookings as required.
