Kendrick Recruitment is looking for a knowledgeable and passionate Assistant Sommelier to join a prestigious luxury wine estate in Stellenbosch! ? This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to grow in the world of fine wine and hospitality.

? Key Responsibilities:
? Train restaurant staff on wine knowledge & service standards
? Ensure correct presentation & serving temperature of beverages
? Maintain & update the wine list
? Place wine & beverage orders based on inventory
? Liaise with suppliers & source new wines for the portfolio
? Set up wine service area before each shift
? Monitor stock & equipment levels
? Conduct regular equipment checks
?️ Perform routine temperature checks for quality control
Maintain & clean decanters
? Minimize losses from breakage, waste, or incorrect orders
? Conduct monthly beverage stock-takes
? Deliver world-class wine service & enhance guest satisfaction
? Ensure compliance with Liquor Act (No. 59 of 2003)
Requirements:
? Grade 12 + Certificate from Cape Wine Academy or WSET Level 1
? 1–2 years’ experience as a wine tutor or similar role (preferred)
? Strong wine knowledge (grape varieties, regions, soils, climates, winemaking process)
Passion for wine & hospitality
?️ Strong product knowledge & communication skills
? Professional, confident & well-presented
? Flexible, accountable & team-oriented
Ability to interact with distinguished, high-profile clientele
