My name is Daran, based in Franschhoek with ample amount of knowledge and experience in the wine and food industry.
I obtain my ND: Events Management that I completed in 2016 at the Cape University of Technology straight after I started my career in the wine industry while looking for position in Events. I took a great liking of working with people and my passion for wine grew from there. In the year of 2017 I became a permanent wine ambassador at Franschhoek Cellar DGB and thought myself more about wine. As my passion grew so did my knowledge and in 2019 I completed my WSET level 2. Thus I am currently waiting on my level 3 results. I have also helped out with small Events after Covid.
While still young and not knowing alot about wine I started to make my wine tasting a little more personalized, I then started doing food and wine pairing using South African dishes and also incorporate some of the menu dishes this then became my first selling point for the current wines Im working with. I then added times slots advising my customers when the best time of day is too enjoy it! And so my wine career got a boost and heading for success. Currently the wine ambassadors at my current establishment work with up to 200 guest per day in season. My responsibilities is as follow: setting up and conducting tasting for groups and VIP guest, tasting for VIP tasting premium wines, cheese, Chocolate and wine tasting. Other responsibilities are opening and closing procedures, stocktake, shipping (Aspiring and winestore) and cash ups. Health and safety inspection monthly and first aid
Strong point: sales, communication and service oriented.
I believe that I am an all rounder trying to learn new things. Expanding my knowledge and experience. I do not have a lot of experience in admin but know the basics ,but eager to learn more in any task I am given.
