We are looking for a Pastry Commis Chef to help prepare ingredients and assist the kitchen team with daily tasks. The care and attention a Pastry Commis Chef devotes to food preparation will contribute to creating truly exceptional dishes that delight our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer professional, friendly, and proactive support to senior chefs.

  • Ensure consistency in the preparation of all food items for à la carte and buffet menus.

  • Assist with deliveries and proper storage of ingredients.

  • Actively contribute ideas and feedback during daily shift briefings.

  • Complete daily checks of mise en place to maintain freshness and quality.

  • Rotate products correctly to ensure minimal waste.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas, utensils, and equipment.

  • Follow all food safety and sanitation policies.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 plus a Chef Certificate or Diploma.

  • 1–2 years of previous experience as a Commis Chef in a fine-dining or 5-star restaurant.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be a South African Citizen
