The Plating Chef is responsible for the precise and consistent presentation of dishes before and during service. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail, strong culinary knowledge, and the ability to execute plating designs that meet the Signature Chef’s standards for creativity, aesthetics, and efficiency.
Reports To: Signature Chef / Executive Chef
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure every plate leaving the kitchen meets established presentation and quality standards.Work closely with chefs de partie and sous chefs to execute plating plans consistently during service.
Maintain a high level of speed, precision, and organisation during peak hours.Collaborate with the Head Chef on new dish designs, garnishes, and plating concepts.Uphold hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
Manage plating station setup, ensuring mise en place is complete and organised before service.Monitor portion control and visual consistency across all dishes.
Train and support junior staff on plating techniques and presentation standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience in a fine dining or high-end culinary environment (minimum 2–3 years).
Strong artistic eye and attention to detail.
Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.Solid knowledge of modern plating techniques, textures, and garnishes.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Culinary diploma or equivalent professional training preferred.
