Purpose: To provide dedicated support to the Head Winemaker in all facets of the winemaking process, ensuring the highest quality of wine production through meticulous cellar operations and a proactive, hands-on approach.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Winemaking or Cellar Technology.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport are essential.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a cellar environment is highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a physically demanding, hands-on role.
  • Experience with stock control and inventory systems is beneficial.

Personal Traits:

  • Passionate about winemaking with a strong desire to learn and develop.
  • Proactive, motivated, and enthusiastic with a keen eye for detail.
  • Reliable, accountable, and effective under pressure, especially during harvest.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
  • Team player with a willingness to take initiative and undertake varied tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cellar Operations & Winemaking Support
  • Assist the Head Winemaker with daily cellar operations and all winemaking activities.
  • Support the winemaker throughout the entire production process, from crush to bottling.
  • Undertake general winery duties as assigned by management.
  1. Quality & Hygiene Standards
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of all cellar equipment and facilities to the highest standard.
  • Adhere to and promote all health and safety protocols within the cellar environment.
  1. Inventory & Stock Management
  • Assist with stock control and warehouse inventory systems to ensure accuracy and organization.
  1. Harvest & Peak Season Readiness
  • Demonstrate flexibility and commitment by working extended hours during harvest and peak seasons to achieve production goals.
  1. Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Manage and enforce all health and safety protocols.
  • Ensure cellar and facilities are maintained to immaculate standards.
