Viticulture Technician (Nursery: Plant Propagation & Grafting)

Our client, a vine nursery currently has a vacancy for a Viticulture Technician at their farm in Paarl. The successful candidate will be responsible for:   

• Production management (plant material propagation and grafting)  
• Employee management  
• Quality Management  
• Facility maintenance  
• Financial Management    

The competencies/ requirements required in the position are:    

• A diploma or B-Agric degree with viticulture  
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in vine grafting  
• Minimum 5 years of nursery experience (plant propagation) 
• Knowledge of vineyard nursery cultivation   
• Commercial experience in vineyard production management
• The ability to build and maintain good customer relationships  
• Maintaining good labour relations and discipline  
• Demonstrated ability to manage large work teams (>50 people)  
• Computer Literacy (MS Office / Database)  
• A Code 14- (with PDP) and Forklift license will count in your favour  
• Certified plant inspector (PlantSA)  
• Be able to perform basic mechanical and/or infrastructure maintenance  
• Drafting and Managing Departmental Budget
