The Estate Operations Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction, mission-driven leadership, and hands-on operational oversight to ensure the seamless functioning, sustainability, and long-term value of the estate. This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, people management, and strategic planning to drive excellence across infrastructure, landscaping, farming operations, and building compliance.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Infrastructure Management
  • Oversee the maintenance, optimization, and operational efficiency of all estate infrastructure installations, including utilities, roads, lighting, and facilities.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance plans and ensure all infrastructure systems operate at optimal capacity.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sustainability and cost efficiency.
  1. Landscaping and Environmental Management
  • Lead the maintenance and presentation of all public open spaces, gardens, and landscaped areas in accordance with the estate’s aesthetic and environmental standards.
  • Manage irrigation systems to ensure effective water use and landscape health.
  • Drive seasonal planting schedules and biodiversity initiatives to maintain and improve the estate’s visual and ecological integrity.
  1. Farming Operations
  • Oversee all aspects of olive grove and vineyard (7 ha) operations, from cultivation to harvesting and processing.
  • Implement sustainable and efficient agricultural practices to maximize yield and quality.
  • Coordinate with external consultants or contractors as needed to support specialized agricultural activities.
  1. Building Compliance and Estate Development
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with estate architectural and building guidelines for all new constructions, renovations, and refurbishments.
  • Review building applications, site plans, and conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Collaborate with residents, contractors, and the Architectural Review Committee to ensure consistent and fair application of compliance procedures.

Strategic Priorities

  1. Operational Excellence:
    Define and lead strategic operational projects, preventative maintenance frameworks, and responsive systems to enhance estate performance and long-term value.
  2. Resource Optimization:
    Assess, design, and recommend optimal resource structures, including staffing, equipment, and support systems, to deliver on operational goals.
  3. Performance Management:
    Develop and implement roadmaps with defined KPIs, measurable deliverables, clear timelines, and budget controls to ensure accountability and transparency.

Leadership and People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of supervisors (2) and general workers (12) to achieve high performance and maintain morale.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and skills development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Diploma in Agriculture, Facilities Management, or a related field will be an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in operations, or facilities management, preferably within a residential or hospitality estate environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of infrastructure maintenance, landscaping, and agricultural operations.
    • Experience with budgeting, procurement, and contractor management.
    • Familiarity with environmental and building compliance regulations.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strategic thinker with a hands-on management approach.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily estate-based role with both office and field responsibilities.
  • May require flexibility to work after hours or weekends during peak operational periods.
