De Morgenzon, a well-established and premium wine estate based in Stellenbosch, is looking for a competent and experienced Tasting Room & Administration Manager. The successful candidate will need to possess outstanding organizational & communication skills, meticulous planning and leadership skills and a passion for the upmarket hospitality sector.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Tasting Room Manager duties and responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and memorable guest and visitor experience by leading the delivery of outstanding customer service.
  • Recruit, train, and manage the tasting room staff, fostering a positive and knowledgeable team dedicated to delivering service excellence.
  • Possess and impart an understanding of our wines, vineyard practices, and winemaking processes to guests and staff alike.
  • Lead the sales efforts of the tasting room team in all respects.
  • Conduct regular tastings and educational sessions to guests and staff alike.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all materials and staff.
  • Provide monthly sales analysis and reports.
  • Ensure that the Tasting Room facilities are staffed during all opening hours, are maintained to our standards, and that health and safety and legal regulations are adhered to.
  • Reconciling and posting daily cash-ups.
  • Tasting Room vintage rollover stock management and replenishment. Inform DTC manager of vintage rollovers in order to update online store.
  • Report Tasting Room maintenance requirements to the Maintenance Manager and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Monitor cheese platter stock levels and replenish timeously.
  • Compile the Tasting Room Business plan and Operational Budget – monitor monthly expenses and report on variances.
  • Implementation of Marketing and DTC campaigns related to the tasting room and sales.

Administration duties and responsibilities

  • Vehicle license renewal and fine payments.
  • Monthly creditors’ pack – invoice loading and statement reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly spreadsheet of creditors submitted for payment.
  • COD sales reconciliation and execution.
  • Sample wine and promotional wine reconciliation.
  • Point of contact for any IT related issues.
  • Ordering monthly staff refreshments, stationery and cleaning supplies.
  • Arrange bi-weekly management meetings, capture and distribute minutes.
  • POD reconciliation.
  • Monitor and maintain supplier’s database and attend to supplier queries.
  • Process Goods Received Notes for packaging, labelling and bottle orders.
  • Annual application for Mandatory grants on Foodbev Seta.
  • Receive and distribute courier packages to relevant departments.
  • Manage WCA, Dept of Labour, Agri Seta, Employment Equity submissions, and BBBEE audits.

Essential Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • 3 to 5-year experience in hospitality or the wine industry, especially in premium environments
  • Adept at using logistics software (knowledge of Pastel will be beneficial)
  • A qualification in hospitality, tourism, or event coordination
  • Wine knowledge — WSET certification is a bonus
  • Strong sales, customer service, and communication skills
  • Excellent admin, organizational, and multitasking ability
  • Comfortable working independently and staying calm under pressure
  • Flexible to work weekends, public holidays, and overtime when needed

Salary: Market Related

Start date:  Immediately / January / February 2026
